Who I am

I trained as a Jungian analyst and have developed my own individual approach that is both supportive and intellectually challenging. I offer assessments, consultations, psychotherapy and intensive analysis as needed. I also work with couples. People seeking help come from a variety of backgrounds including business, law, politics, the arts and the health professions.

I am an experienced public speaker and write extensively on current events, politics, and social history from a psychoanalytic perspective.

Born in the US, I came to England after receiving my BA from Princeton University. I went on to do graduate work at Cambridge University and at LSE where I received a doctorate in sociology. For many years I worked as a consultant to local authority agencies throughout the UK and with the Metropolitan Police in setting up community programmes to divert young offenders from being sent to prison. As a result, I have considerable experience in consultancy work with businesses and organizations in the process of change.

My professional titles/affiliations are:

  • A Training Analyst and Supervisor of the Society of Analytical Psychology and the British Psychotherapy Foundation
  • A member of The Queen Anne Street Practice, a group of private practitioners offering different kinds of psychotherapies to clients in Central London
  • Former Chair of the British Psychoanalytic Council, a national registering body representing psychoanalytic psychotherapy training organizations throughout the UK
  • Former editor of the Journal of Analytical Psychology
